Dining and kitchen interior

The exhibition combines the tradition of German culture and the culture of the people who immigrated from the Polish Borderlands after 1945. Furniture, equipment and small items show a mix of many elements of different cultures. Various items exist alongside each other, e.g. Vilnius rugs next to a typical Pomeranian sideboard. Using the example of a residential interior, we can observe what sociological and cultural phenomena took place at the junction of disappearing German tradition and the creation of new values of Polish traditions from the East in the Western Territories. The interior arrangement presents not only aspects of interwoven cultures, but also presents artefacts of unusual use.
